Apps for College
Welcome back it has been a while. I am here with a post for people who are going to college or even have started their college journey. These are the apps I have used and have found so useful in my time at college so let's begin.
Fetch Rewards
This is one of the first apps I started using in my freshmen year at college. I discovered this one from one of my suitemates and thought it was the coolest thing. So the way it works is every time you get a receipt you can scan it with the app, and for each receipt you scan you earn points on every receipt, and then you can use your points to get gift cards.
Some places for gift cards are Panera, coffee drinks from Starbucks or Dunkin’, pizza from Papa John’s or Domino’s Pizza, Nike, Amazon Apple, Bath and Body Works, etc. Click here to join today!
Givingli
I discovered this app from one of my friends. She gave me a givingly after I did some graphic design work for her. This app allows you to send personalized gifts and virtual greeting cards for birthdays, anniversaries, and other occasions. Along with that you can attach a gift card with it and send it to anyone you have in your contacts as a text message. This is useful for when someone does you a favor and won’t let you pay them back …. this way you can send them a gift card to their favorite restaurant or retail company. Some include Starbucks, Amazon, Target, Sephora Nike, Lyft & NFL shops.
In addition to being a receiver of giving I have sent many to my friends when they drive me places or do me a favor.
MyStudyLife
This app is also a website which I love. It has so many features that many calendars or other online assignment notebooks don't have.
The dashboard will give you a complete overview of your day; not just the classes and exams coming up, but also the incomplete tasks that are due soon.
You can manage your classes, tasks, and exams. It helps with scheduling you can input your term and holiday dates, classes, exams, and tasks. It lets you understand which classes conflict with your exams.
It has a spot for to-do lists. It has numerous elements that manage the differing tasks and deadlines from a whole range of subjects. Many times projects and homework aren’t completed in a single night. That’s why, with the to-do list, you can determine how much of a task has been completed, instead of only marking them ‘complete’ or ‘incomplete’.
Tasks can be categorized as an ‘Assignment’, ‘Reminder’, or ‘Revision’. You can even designate ‘Revision’ tasks to a certain exam, so you can keep track of which topics you have left to study.
Google Calendar
You can create many calendars for different things such as
Classes
Work
Exams
On-campus events and extracurriculars
Freelance work (appointments with clients)
Homework (usually I’d use this for scheduling group work)
“Other” – meals, workouts, etc.
The first step to creating your school schedule in Google Calendar is to add your classes. If you’re in college, you’ll need to add each class.
To add classes that repeat on certain days, simply click Does Not Repeat to get a list of repeating options. Or, you can click Custom to select specific days. When constructing your school schedule, select all the days your class meets. This keeps you from having to add the same class numerous times.
Enter all recurring commitments and appointments.
lessons
therapy
gym
practices + games
doctor + dentist appointments
club meetings
My favorite feature is the notifications. For example, you can receive an alert one hour before your class starts and another 10 minutes before the start time. Just click Add notification for each additional alert you'd like to create.
Unidays & Student Beans
Both these apps genuinely are the same. They both connect you with exclusive discounts from top brands - only for students.
Yep, it’s just like UNIDAYS but I think it’s UK-based. It has some different sites and brands compared to UNIDAYS so I used to keep both apps on my phone. Because I live in the US, UNIDAYS was more useful for the brands that I typically shopped at but I did use Student Beans once, maybe twice so they’re legit.
So since I am hoping to use Substack for my blog and eventually not pay for my domain, that means I won't have my original email list so that means if you want to stay up to date on the blog just click the subscribe button below. In addition, I have a whole category called college that you should check out if you would like more info about school and college.
